A young, energetic and competitive Oceania All Stars line-up will face the LA Galaxy on Saturday 6 December at the Auckland Regional Council’s Mt Smart Stadium.
The core team, announced today at The Westin Hotel in Auckland’s Lighter Quay, promises to showcase some of the best footballing talent from New Zealand and the South Pacific.
“Oceania is honoured to bring together an All Star XI to participate in this match,” said Oceania Football Confederation General Secretary Tai Nicholas.
“We have chosen the best players from around the region to make up a side that will challenge the opposition and thrill spectators.“Matches such as these provide a wonderful spectacle for fans and help to show how football can make a difference to people’s lives,” he said.
The Oceania All Stars will be coached by former Football Federation Australia National Instructor Coach and OFC Technical Director Jim Selby and former All Whites international and Auckland City FC coach, Colin Tuaa.  They will be assisted by former Tahitian international and FIFA Technical Development Officer Patrick Jacquemet.
“This is a great opportunity for players from the Oceania region to test themselves against some of the best players in the world,” Selby said.
“There is a lot of football potential in the South Pacific and this match presents an occasion for the players, Confederation and public to benchmark local talents on the international stage.”
“One off matches can provide at times surprising and entertaining results - the local players will be there to prove that they can compete at the highest level of the game and against the best,” he said.
Selby was assistant coach to former Switzerland coach Roy Hodgson for a World XI match against Australia in 1999.
“It is a real honour for me to be working with this group of Oceanian players,” assistant coach Colin Tuaa said.
“I have always supported their progress and development and am excited about the prospect of mixing them with New Zealand’s best. It is a really great opportunity for the players to compete against a world-renowned professional club.”
Representing Oceania against the LA Galaxy is a fantastic opportunity says Ivan Vicelich.
“I’m very excited, it’s great to have a player with Beckham’s profile come to New Zealand and create media interest for football in Auckland and around the pacific region,” Vicelich said.
“Beckham has done so much for football around the world and this is a great opportunity for me and the rest of the players to run out on the park alongside him and give the Galaxy a run for their money.”
This is the second occasion that OFC has helped organise an all-star match in recent times.  The Christian Karembeu Jubilee Match between an Oceania XI and the France ’98 FIFA World Cup™ winning team in May of this year was extremely successful, as were the Football for Life charity matches between Fiji and a New Zealand XI in August 2007. OFC with the assistance of FIFA, Fiji Football Association (FFA) and New Zealand Football (NZF) helped raise $51,000.00 NZD for tsunami relief projects in the Solomon Islands.
Karembeu attended both “Football for Life” charity matches.
The Oceania All Stars will be captained by FIFA World Cup winner and UEFA Champions League winner Christian Karembeu.
OFC General Secretary Tai Nicholas says that he expects to announce further international signings in the near future.
“We’re delighted to have secured former France and Real Madrid star Christian Karembeu and we are working on adding other well-known names to the player list.
“The inclusion of international star players adds to the festival nature of an event like this and demonstrates just how football is truly a game with global appeal,” he said.
The Oceania All Stars will be staying at The Quadrant Hotel.  The Westin and Quadrant hotels are the official accommodation suppliers of The Beautiful Game.
*Brian Laudrup and Mark Bosnich have been approached and discussions on their involvement are ongoing with a definite confirmation expected to be announced in the near future.

Amical FC currently occupying second place in the PVFA Premier Division continues its remarkable run and pressure on Tafea FC, with a 2-0 victory over Yatel FC at the Port-Vila Stadium on Saturday 16 October 2008.
Two first half goals put the tie out of reach for a Yatel FC. Amical FC managed an early lead four minutes into the first half as Eric Ishmael hit his first goal. The ex-Sheperds United man seized onto Jerry Shem's centre and slotted the ball in Vanuatu International Goalkeeper John Presley Tari’s net. Sewlyn Tari doubled the advantage on 39 minutes. By defeating Yatel FC, Amical FC has also increased the margin between the two teams in the League table. Yatel FC has slipped back to the fourth position of the table after this defeat.

Tupuji Imere FC battled back in the TVL Premier League
Tupuji Imere FC battled back in the TVL Premier League to pick up 3 valuable points in an entertaining Southern Efate Derby.
Tupuji Imere FC held on to a narrow lead to earn a win over Erakor Golden Star FC, The only goal of the match at the Port-Vila stadium was scored by Fenethy Masauvakalo in the 33rd minute of the game.
After the opener, in what was described as the entertaining game of the day, both teams continued to produce chances which did not materialize. Fenethy Masauvakalo with his Brazilian dribble made Erakor GS defense go dizzy and had few chances to increase Tupuji Imere’s lead. Hubert Reuben of Erakor FC was denied an equalizer in the last minutes of the game when his powerful shot bounced back from the right post and gave a wake up call to David Chilia.
Finally Tupuji Imere FC preserved their slender advantage to record six points after their two last games, and moved them up to third spot in the TVL Premier League ladder. Erakor GS FC has declined further to the fifth position.
Tafea FC still top after humbling troubled Westtan Broncos
Tafea FC took another step towards retaining their Premier League title with a 3-0 win over struggling Westtan Broncos. In-form Vanuatu and Tafea FC speedy forward Francois Sakama sealed a victory over Westtan Broncos with two superb goals. Sakama fired the champions ahead in the 10mns when he slotted the ball inside the net after a run through the Westtan defenders. Francois was at the reception of a perfect 50m long cross delivered by Geffrey Gete.
However, despite a perfect start, the Graham Demas’s side struggled to increase the lead, especially due to a masterful performance from the Westtan Broncos goalkeeper, who nearly stopped all of Tafea’s opportunities and needed to wait until the 85mns when Francois Sakama doubled the score.
In injury time, Fernandez Terong collected the ball after a good move from Alphonse Qorig and struck a low shot to add another goal to wrap up the 3 points and secure another win (3-0) for Tafea FC. Westtan Broncos who conceded their third consecutive loss are now down to the second last place at the bottom of the TVL Premier League table.

The Second round of the TVL sponsored premier league in the PVFA will proceed today with games to be played at the National Stadium and the Antoine Rossie Field.  Siwi FC who is currently leading the First Division will aim to keep its winning mood as other teams such as Lopatu FC and Spirit 08 have been providing real threats to Siwi FC.
In the Premiere Division, the second top position will be up for graps when Yatel FC takes on Amical FC at 12pm. The two teams have met in the first round and were held to a 1-1 draw. Yatel FC, who has improved in its last games of the first round of the championship, will be without key players such as Sithy Thompson, Remy Kency and Peter Lency as they are serving match suspensions.
Amical FC looks set to register a good performance after its stunning performance against Westtan Broncos last week. Amical’s consistent performance has raised quite a few eye brows and publicity as they are potentially capable of claiming the championship title. The Philimon John coached side will be relying on the services of National reps such as Yelou Robert, Derrick Malas, Ken Masauvakalo to put the boys in red and white closer to the leader, Tafea FC.
However, the story might not be the same when Amical faces a real test from the boys in Blue and White. It is expected that Yatel FC will be fielding a young team but with the return of Captain Lele William and the caliber of players such as Joe Pakoa, Roger Joe, Jimmy Ruru and Tasso Robert, the match is expected to be a thrilling one. “Amical is obviously the favourite, with all their talent but we know that we will get our chances if we keep cool-headed and work hard," said Coach Michel Kalo of Yatel FC.
Tafea FC who is enjoying a comfortable lead will take on Westtan Broncos at 2pm. Westtan Broncos who is facing an uphill battle and desperately needs to win to improve on its ranking.
Tupuji Imere FC will be aiming to register another win when they will take on Erakor Golden Star at 4pm. Erakor Golden Star will also be looking to fight back after their loss to Yatel FC. The Battle between the two soccer rivals of South Efate will surely be a game to watch.
With the exception of Tafea FC, the current standing will surely change after this weekend’s game. PVFA understands that the teams are preparing really well for this weekend’s encounter.
The PVFA encourages all soccer fans to come and enjoy a good afternoon of competitive Foot-ball at the National Stadium.

The top spot in the league table was at stake last weekend as the two giants faced each other in the country's capital city.
At the end of an exciting 90 minutes, Tafea FC emerged the winner in the clash with Amical FC and as a result has increased its lead at the top of the TVL Premier League.  The 2-1 victory cemented TAFEA FC’s position at the top of the League while Ifira Black Birds FC remained rooted to the bottom of the table following a narrow 3-2 defeat at the hands of Yatel FC. Erakor Golden Star FC ended a losing sequence when they crushed Westtan Broncos 4-1.
It was an entertaining afternoon with another efficient performance from Tafea FC, even thought Amical FC started the better of the two sides, and had an early opportunity through Eric Ishmael whose shot was just wide off the mark.  It was Tafea who took control of the game and open the lead when Hubert Nake picked the ball up 30 yards out run past a number of defenders and fired a thundering shoot that crashed to the back of the Amical keeper’s net.
Tafea FC continued to press at the start of the second half and this eventually paid off when the team was awarded a penalty five minutes into the second half for a clumsy tackle by Jean Robert Yelou on Striker Richard Iwai.
Tafea FC penalty specialist Samson Obed gave no chance to William Soromon and netted the ball to increase the lead to 2-0.
However, after this goal, Tafea FC made same substitutions that created same confusion in the team which allowed Amical FC to get back into the match and took advantage of the situation and the space being left by Tafea FC midfielders.  Eric Ishmael and Iakar Tess both had a couple of chances each, but could not get the better of young goalkeeper Sike Malas.
Finally, on the hour mark, Antoine Bosco reduced the score for Amical FC after a good move from Jerry Shem on the left side and a perfect center which found Bosco totally free of any marking at the far post.
In injury time Amical FC also went close to equalizing through substitute Jason Avock who failed to take advantage of a clear opportunity.
Tafea FC finally held on to record another vital victory and increased the feeling of déjà vu among Port Vila football fans.
Veteran Hubert Reuben keeps Erakor GS on course for the TVL league Title.
Early in the Afternoon, Erakor GS defeated heavily Westtan Broncos 4-1. Veteran Striker Hubert Reuben also signaled his return to the TVL premier League with a double after missing the beginning of the season through injury.  Campbell Sakary and Albert Frem added the other two goals to give Erakor a rather flattering score line.  Jacques Harry scored the only goal for Westtan from the penalty spot.

Yatel FC survived a late scare
A blinding first half performance by Yatel Football Club was enough to seal a win over Ifira Black Birds FC with 3 goals in the first 45 minutes.
Vanuatu National representative Sithy Thompsen opened the scoring in the early minutes of the games followed by two goals in quick succession just before the first half time by Robert Tasso and Papison Tatley.
At half time, while Yatel players thought they had the game in the bag and would be cruising towards an win, Ifira BB
fought back in the second half to reduce the margin through a family affair when brothers Chichirua, Andrew and Waoute both scored and gave Ifira fans a lively and thrilling second half.
However, Ifira failed to find a late equalizer, enabling Yatel FC to survive a late scare with a tough 3-2 victory.

Auretau Frank King celebrated his return in 11 aside football when he equalized (2-2) for Tupuji Imere in the injury time, saving his team from another embarrassing defeat.
With only a few seconds left on the clock, Auretau Frank King broke the hearts of Seveners United fans when he netted a late penalty, awarded by Referee Harry Berry for a hand ball in the box.
A lively first half saw both sides creating many scoring opportunities, and as usual it was John Laan (our photo,
John Laan (Seveners Utd FC) is leading the scorers table with 6 Goals) who gave Seveners the lead after 21 minutes.  He headed in a superb goal into the right corner from a perfect center from John Ronnie. Veteran National Goal Keeper, David Chilia was caught short at the far post.
However, Fenethy Mausavakalo replied within 2 minutes to silence the small but vocal crowd of Seveners supporters who were still celebrating John Laan’s goal. The blistering short came at the end of a series of fine smooth and fast team moves.
But it was John Laan again who put his team in the driving seat with a goal of the very highest standard in the 38th minute.  Receiving a high ball from the midfield, the young united striker headed the ball across his defender, turned around and hit a stunning volley from the edge of the box that gave no chance at all to David Chilia.
After the break, Seveners continue their dominance while maintaining the game at a very fast pace.  John Ronnie made some great runs down the right side and always looked dangerous.  Seveners united was rewarded for their continuous efforts with a penalty after a Tupuji Imere defender touched the ball with his hand which clearly denied Seveners a scoring opportunity.
John Laan had the opportunity to score a hat trick and secure victory when he decided to convert the penalty.  However, his shoot just brushed the right goal post and went out of play.
Despite the missed penalty, Seveners Utd refused to give up and continued to attack.  In the 80th minute, John Laan had the perfect opportunity to make amends for his mistake.  He picked up the ball at the edge of the box, outpaced two defenders, then cut inside and fired a thunderbolt that hit the crossbar.
The desire to look for more goals, on the part of the Seveners, probably cost them the victory.  Well into injury time, following a failed attack, Tupuji Imere defenders pounced on a lost ball on the left side of the field and their quick counter attack was rewarded when a United player clearly handled the ball in the box.  Referee Harry Berry did not hesitate to award a penalty.  It was the replacement, Auretau King, who took full advantage of the opportunity to equalize with a carefully converted the penalty that dealt a final stunning blow to the Seveners players.

Wairarapa United Top scorer, Vanuatu national Rep. Seule Soromon, has been named in the Team Wellington extended training squad for their 2008 national summer league soccer campaign.
It is the first time since the franchise system was introduced for the national league that any Wairarapa United players have been recognised in such a way, but premier division coach Phil Keinzley is not surprised at the latest turn in events. Keinzley said Soromon who has played internationally for Vanuatu is a gifted attacker whose skills would serve Team Wellington well.
Seule Soromon has been a revelation in the striker's role and Keinzley gives him top rating in the Wairarapa United colours. That really is saying something!
Seule has played an important role in United’s historical victory in the central league promotion-relegation game. They have now earned the right to play in the 2009 Central League soccer competition.
Keinzley also reveals he is "working hard" to get the Vanuatu international, Seule Soromon, a trial with the Wellington Phoenix after a season which has seen him score a record 35 goals for the club, and constantly entertains and thrills the veritable army of Wairarapa United supporters with his speed and inventiveness in the process.
"I know some people will say we should worry about ourselves first but my belief always has been that we should give our players every chance to reach the highest possible levels," Keinzley said. "He (Soromon) could be an A-League Player; at least he deserves the opportunity to have a crack at making it."

BRAZIL - The Solomon Island Kurukurus succumbed to the world giants of the Futsal game –Brazil in their second match of the FIFA Futsal World Cup 2008 at Gimnasio Nilson Nelson Stadium in Brazil yesterday.
A crowd of 5845 saw Brazil scored 21 times without reply against Solomon Islands to consolidate their position at the Group A summit. The victory was the second biggest in FIFA Futsal World Cup history, surpassed only by the Seleção's 29-2 defeat of the host nation at Guatemala 2000.
Brazilian keeper Tiago was unexpectedly forced into making two early saves, but the floodgates opened once Lenisio broke the minnows' resistance on five minutes. It was 8-0 by the break, and things were to get worse for the brave but outclassed Solomons.
Lenisio finished the game with four goals to his name, two fewer than the irrepressible Falcao, and both Schmacher and Betao posted hat-tricks. Wilde, twice, Gabriel and Carlinhos were also on target for Paulo de Oliveira's side, who already look the team to beat.
Solomon Islands coach Victor Wai'ia said his side would learn from their lesson against the best players in the world.
“It was great to have the chance to play against Brazil. Their technical ability is amazing. My team are very young and I believe this was a great learning experience for them. I hope we’ll take something away from this game.”
Solomon Island player James Egeta was appreciative of the Brazilians talents.
“That was a difficult game. We were up against one of the futsal giants. Technicallly, they’re perfect.”

Port-Vila Football Association Day 6 resumes today after all matches were suspended last weekend due to poor attendance by Club representatives at the PVFA weekly general meeting.
Tupuji Imere FC and Seveners will open this Round 6 of PVFA 2008-09 TVL Premier League this afternoon 5.30 pm at the Port-Vila Stadium in what promises to be an enthralling contest.
Next to last in the TVL Premier League, PVFA Giant Tupuji Imere FC desperately needs to beat Seveners United, to end a losing streak and move away from relegation trouble.

TUPUJI IMERE Football Club started the season full of hope after finishing runners-up last season and challenging champions TAFEA FC until the final weekend. It has failed to live up to expectations so far and have lost two league matches out of five.  The Club now sits next to last in the TVL Premier League standings. Although the season is only five weeks old, there is a danger that a leaderless Tupuji Imere will fall further behind the major contenders in the title race.
Seveners United, on the other hand, will certainly aim to bounce back after their lost to Yatel FC.  The hard-working team still possesses enough quality to surprise with their sheer obstinacy and mental strength, battling on to the final minute of every fixture. John Laan remains their focus in attack although key midfielder John Johnson will be missing following a second yellow card.  Seveners Utd will go into this encounter with some degree of confidence.

2008 Fifa Futsal World Cup Brazil:
Day 1 games and current standings:
Today's Results: Brazil 12 Japan 1,Italy 1 Thailand 0, Paraguay 5 USA 0,Cuba  10 Solomon Islands 2

DAY 1 FIFA.COM REPORT.
Surprises were conspicuous by their absence on the first day of the FIFA Futsal World Cup Brazil 2008 this Tuesday. The host nation and Italy, two of the pre-tournament favourites, both got off to a winning starts, though in contrasting fashion, as they bid to cement early passage to the knockout stages.
The big game : Brazil 12-1 Japan
Goals: Lenisio 3, 36, Marquinho 4, Falcao 11 pen, 32, Wilde 23, Ari 25, 28, Schumacher 27, 35, Betao 29, Cico 32 (Brazil); Nobuya Osodo 15 (Japan).
Expectation levels were high in Brasilia, where local supporters packed the Gimnasio Nilson Nelson to cheer on their heroes against Japan. Falcao and Co did not disappoint, cutting loose against the Japanese to record their fourth heaviest victory in competition history. Key to the success of coach Paulo de Oliveira's charges was their first-half control of possession and ruthless display of finishing after the break. The Auriverde now sit atop Group A thanks to their 34th win in the tournament. Japan, meanwhile, have yet to taste victory at a FIFA Futsal finals.
The other games
Over in Group B, Italy, runners-up at Chinese Taipei 2004 and last year's UEFA Futsal Championship, were made to work harder than expected to secure a narrow 1-0 over Thailand in Rio de Janeiro. A solitary strike from the penalty spot from Grana was enough to seal the points for coach Alessandro Nuccorini's side, who are currently second in the group behind Paraguay, 5-0 victors over the USA.
The matchday's final game proved to be a historic one for Cuba, who took full advantage of the Solomon Islands lack of experience to record their first ever victory in this competition. The 10-2 success drew a line under a run of nine consecutive defeats as well as setting a new record. Having never previously scored more than three goals at this level, the Cubans struck three times in the 27th minute against the islanders.
The Player : Alexandre Feller (ITA)
The Azzurri custodian prepared for his upcoming birthday in style with an outstanding performance in his side's hard-fought 1-0 win over Thailand. Set to turn 37 in just two days, the Arzignano Grifo player's reflexes, positioning and imposing presence were key to his team's opening Group B success, and all on his first ever appearance at the showpiece event.
The Stat :
21 - Falcao's goal tally in the history of the competition, after his 32nd minute strike against Japan. The fleet-footed Brazilian hit six goals at Guatemala 2000 and 13 at Chinese Taipei 2004, where he finished as top scorer.
What they said
"It was a tough game as we expected it to be, but we're not overly concerned. We played quite well but we've come here to learn. We're not thinking about the present, we're thinking about the future." Jose Pazos, Thailand coach, after his team's narrow defeat against Italy.

Day 1 game Brazil 12 Japan 1
Brazil thrilled their own fans and overwhelmed Japan en route to a 12-1 victory in their FIFA Futsal World Cup curtain-raiser. Lenisio, Falcao, Ari and Schumacher scored twice apiece, and Marquinho, Wilde, Betao and Cico were also on the scoresheet for the tournament hosts.

Day 1 game: Italy 1 Thailand 0
Italy were made to work hard for the three points they gained over a resolute Thailand side in the opening match of Group B at the Maracanazinho in Rio de Janeiro today. Despite taking the initiative by alternating lively strikers Sandro Zanetti and Adriano Foglia up front, the Azzurri found it difficult to turn the possession they had into chances, being frustrated time and time again by a tight Thai defence and some excellent goalkeeping from Surapong Tompa.

Day 1 game: Paraguay 5 USA 0
The USA came out looking to take the game to Paraguay in Rio. But after Matthew Stewart hit the woodwork early on, the rhythm of the game settled squarely with the South Americans.

Day 1 game: CUBA 10  SOLOMON ISLANDS 2
The Solomon Islands - the youngest team at these futsal finals in Brazil - looked to be on their way to a special day when Elliot Ragomo opened the scoring inside the first minute. Unfortunately for the Oceania men, their early joy only acted to aggravate the Cubans.
