PORT VILA FA – Day 5 - Tafea FC outplayed 10-man Tupuji Imere to 4-1 and remains top

Tafea Football Club outplayed a 10-man Imere Club 4-1 last Saturday to maintain its lead of the PVFA 2008-09 TVL Premier League after 5 games.
Goals from Francois Sakama, Michael Kaltak and Etienne Mermer (2) earned the club another win and increased their lead at the top of the table.
Although Tafea FC lightly dominated the first half,
Tupuji Imere Duo Fenethy Masauvakalo and Tony Chillia were constant threats to the Tafea defence and had few opportunities to open the score. Tafea’s task was simplified just 38 minutes into the first half when the referee showed Tupuji Imere defender Robert Elsen a red card for receiving his second caution.
Shortly after the restart of the second half, it took Francois Sakama only 7minutes to extend the score for Tafea FC when he took a rebound ball at the edge of the box with a powerful volley shoot that gave no chance to David Chilia. Four minutes later Fenethy Masauvakalo celebrated his return to the TVL premier league with a quick equalizer and sent the Imere fans exult. Despite a ten man team, Tupuji Imere FC
fought hard and battled bravely to keep the equaliser, but the insertion of Substitute Michael Kaltak at the 63mns of the game gave Tafea FC a boost and the young talented Vanuatu Player gave the lead to his team 7minutes later when he fired an unstoppable shot for David Chilia.
76minutess into the second half, Etienne Mermer took advantage of a demoralized Tupuji side to add a third goal after a perfect cross from Richard Iwai and added a fourth goal 6 minutes later to seal another victory for his side.
Amical FC consolidate second place with victory
Amical FC capped a fantastic week with a 2-0 victory over Erakor Golden Star on Saturday to consolidate their second position in the TVL Premier league and kept up their dogged pursuit of Tafea FC.
From a bruising start, both sides had chances to open the scoring,
But Amical FC needed until the 75th minute to open the score through their new signing striker from Nalkutan FC, Iakar Tess who steered a right footed shot into the keepers' Right hand corner. Derek Malas sealed Amical Fc victory in the injury time when he tapped the ball inside the net after a good setup of Lorenzo Saravanu.
Erakor Golden Star suffered a setback after a good start in the TVL Premier league.
Amical FC ‘s challenge for their first league title gets its first real test of the season next Saturday when they will take Tafea Football Club with the aim to upset the leader. It remains to be seen whether or not Amical FC can really provide such a challenge as the last time the two teams met was during the Independence Cup this year when Amical lost 2-0.
Late Goal earns Westtan Broncos draw against Ifira BB
A late goal by Kevin Daniel in injury time earns Westtan Broncos a draw against Ifira BB (1-1) who recorded their first point in the 2008-09 TVL premier League season.
Koko Kalsal opened the score for Ifira Black Birds FC at the 21mns of the first half, Ifira BB had few opportunities to increase the score but they lacked proper finishing.
Westtan Broncos fought back in the second Half to equalize the scoring, and they were rewarded in injury time when Koko Kalsal committed an unnecessary fault in their half side and received at the same time his second caution and was sent-off by the referee. Kevin Daniel
found the equalizer when he headed the free kick into Len Merka Net and saved Westtan Broncos FC from a second consecutive defeat.
