VFF prepare Olympic Games

John-and-Jonathan.jpgThis Friday 18th January 2008 is the official beginning of the preparation for the U23 Selection.
This selection will participate to the OFC tournament in march, at Lautoka (
Fiji). They will play against Cook Islands, New Zealand, Solomon Islands, Fiji and PNG. The winner will participate to the 2008 Olympic games in China.
42 players have been selected to build the pre-squad, of which 5 are elements of the national selection (Andrew Chichirua, Jeoffrey Gete, François Sakama, Fenedy Masauvakalau and Jean Victor Maleb).
The delegation will be leaded by Albert Manaroto as Delegation Chief, with Jonathan Naupa (Team manager), Edward Nalial  (Assistant Team Manager) and George Reganvanu (Team Physio).
After his experience with the U20 Squad last year in
New Zealand, and the success of the U12 St Joseph school at the Danone Cup last year at Lyon, a new challenge is proposed to John Philemon, new coach of the selection. He will be assisted by Ephraim Kalorib, who was a player of Tafea FC and the National Squad until last year, this tournament will be his first international experience.
The first training will be on monday 21, the squad will leave the country on 28th February for Lautoka (
Fiji) and the frist game will be against Cook Islands the 1st of March.
